A better way to diagnose soft tissue injuries.Soft tissue injuries are not easily diagnosed —a fact that often results in misdiagnoses, ongoing problems, and prolonged treatment periods. Patients with these elusive and painful injuries are forced to miss hours of work, while frustrated physicians try to treat an injury they cannot always pinpoint. Load-bearing tests and invasive options often cause only more pain and a longer recovery period. In the past, the lack of an objective, reliable diagnostic tool has been a major problem. See beyond the surface.IDI has developed state-of-the-art evaluation and diagnostic equipment for soft tissue injuries. Our patented new technology uses an Electrodiagnostic Functional Assessment (EFA) to combine and enhance five medically accepted tests - electromyography (EMG), range of motion (ROM), functional capacity evaluation (FCE), grip test and pinch test. This non-loading and non-invasive technique can independently evaluate every muscle group in the body. The benefits are clear. The EFA is the only service that can objectively age and quantify soft tissue injuries. In legitimate claims, this test decreases cost by promoting faster healing through site-specific treatment recommendations. The EFA results can and have been upheld in courts nationwide and the EFA has changed case law from the Federal level down. The EFA can determine the following information:
Valid results. Every time. The EFA ensures reproducible results. It monitors EMG activity with range of motion and FCE, and therefore, it does not require a co- efficient of variance. The EMG can simultaneously monitor acute activity of muscle tone, muscle spasms, muscle activity, and muscle fatigue. Compensation patterns, absence of flexion/relaxation response, bilateral vasoconstriction and bilateral changes for comparison are measured and recorded. Movement artifact is virtually eliminated through the use of cabling and the integrity of the electronics is preserved. No filtering of the EMG is necessary. If an electrode is not properly placed or maintained, the EFA’s lead-fail detection system will automatically stop the test. A typical EFA takes approximately one hour. The technology is here. Now.Currently, we provide soft tissue assessment services for workers’ compensation, ergonomics, post-offer/pre-placement evaluations, general liability, sports medicine and general medical conditions. certified personnel conduct all EFA evaluations and reports are made by a Board Certified Physician. The EFA conforms to AMA, ACOEM, and OSHA guidelines. It also carries a strong 510(k) FDA registration which recognizes, among other things, the EFA’s ability to distinguish between chronic and acute soft tissue injuries and between compliance and pain. iDi provides services nationwide, and we also allow physicians and treatment centers to provide the EFA on-site permanently through a Partnership Alliance Program. As a physician, you benefit from an extra source of revenue, while your patients benefit from better diagnoses. EFA is also portable, which allows for convenient on-site evaluations.
